ABOUT US

User Research International (URI) is a fast-growing User Experience (UX) consulting research company specializing in usability testing and market research. We are based in Redmond, Washington.

Our staff have equally strong people skills and technical skills, and our culture is collegial, and we support professional development. Our company workflow features quick turn around and rich variety. We are a learning community, and we can be a great laboratory for your growth.

We help top technology, information, and retail companies create innovative experiences through better consumer understanding.

ABOUT YOU

You are passionate about learning technology and have hands on experience with cloud and Linux systems administration. You combine your passion for technology with good communication skills and are helpful, speedy, and work well on a team. You enjoy challenge, problem solving, and a fast-paced environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you eager to apply your Linux command line expertise in a fast-paced environment where you are constantly challenged to learn new cloud technologies?

If you live and breathe Linux and want to gain more experience with cloud technologies, we need you on our team!

We are seeking a full-time Cloud Operations Analyst that is proficient with the Linux command line and has some experience with at least one cloud service, such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Our Cloud Operations team is crucial to our company’s success by enabling us to offer UX Research expertise to clients within the cloud and developer space. As a Cloud Operations Analyst, you will delight and support our UX Researchers by managing their cloud environments, and by acting as their subject matter expert for cloud and developer technologies.

GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for the setup and tear down of cloud-based services across providers such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for use within short duration test environments.

You will be creating setups to replicate the use of a service or multiple connected services in a real business, which may also include the need to create ‘dummy’ assets (compute instances, clusters, containers, virtual networks, web apps, etc.). The virtual environments are designed to showcase cloud services and support common scenarios of interaction.

You should have the ability to read and understand code, and the desire and aptitude to develop scripts to automate cloud services.

The environments you setup will be utilized by people not necessarily familiar with the tools and their capabilities, so you should be comfortable communicating how complex systems work to a layperson.

Although it is not expected that you be an expert on each and every cloud service, you should be able to work with documentation to set up unfamiliar services and troubleshoot issues you encounter in those setups, while working within a fixed timeline.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with the Linux command line and SSH
  • Experience using at least one cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • The ability to clearly explain highly technical environments to colleagues and clients
  • A generalist technical aptitude that allows you to quickly understand and implement unfamiliar technologies
  • Familiarity with common Developer IDEs such as Visual Studio and VS Code

Preferred:

  • Skilled in quickly writing simple Bash, Ansible and Terraform scripts
  • Experience with the AWS, Azure, and GCP API and Command Line Interface (CLI)
  • Experience with Git
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes

COMPETENCIES

  • Professional demeanor, good communication, and solid problem-solving skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • An interest in learning new tasks and providing ideas and suggestions in new ways to manage duties
